Longview Fibre Paper and Packaging, Inc. produces light-weight, multiwall and complimentary specialty kraft papers for an established domestic and global customer base. The company also produces containerboard and corrugated boxes. Longview operates a pulp and paper mill at Longview, Wash., and a network of seven converting plants in the western United States. Our pulp and paper mill is strategically located in Longview, Wash., close to several export ports and with ready access to Interstate 5, two rail lines and on-site barge tr affic. Our facilities include one of the highest-capacity and most diverse paper mills in North America, and a network of well-equipped corrugated container plants in four Western states. We manufacture more than 70 grades of kraft paper and containerboard, and supply a broad range of corrugated packaging and solid fibre slip sheets. We supply our products to 35 countries worldwide. This position is responsible for the design, development, and execution of a comprehensive sales contract management function for both the paper sales and corrugated sales divisions of the company. Position is responsible for working with executive team in setting policy related to contracts and contract terms, collaborating with the sales analysis group in developing analysis tools to support contract optimization, drive contracting and negotiation best practices through the sales organization; participate in negotiations for major deals. Additionally, this individual will be responsible to analyze pricing in the business and driving margin improvement efforts through optimization of the companys product and services.
Develop comprehensive plan to improve the Longview sales contracting process
Standard policies, optimized price adjustment mechanisms (PAM)
Acceleration of sales contracting process for new business
Training and sales support
Collaborate with sales analysis to analyze existing contracts to find areas of opportunity to improve pocket costs and mitigate risk
Develop a schedule of key contract renewals, and facilitate strategic preparation prior to the next negotiation period
Pro-actively develop plans and strategies to improve contracts as they renew
Quickly make recommendations and support the contracting and n egotiation process for new and existing business
Support sales team in negotiation and contracting of key deals
Collaborate with sales analysis to develop forecasting models to understand the impacts of industry price index trends on existing business
Develop standard process to analyze optimum pricing for prices, identify outlying pieces of business, and facilitate efforts to drive margin through pricing improvement.
Working with the sales analysis team, lead efforts to manage and measure effectiveness of price increase campaigns.
Requirements - A minimum of 10 years of sales contract management and pricing experience in a manufacturing environment
Demonstrated competency and successful track record in the above functions.
Previous sales, marketing, or operation experience in the corrugated container or pulp and paper business is desired.
Bachelors degree in business, marketing or related field.
M.B.A or J.D.
Ability to develop rapport/credibility with diverse groups; must be comfortable interacting with senior management.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills: general ability to express clearly and concisely ideas and concepts in written and oral form.
Proven ability to work in project teams on short lead times; particularly in response to bid activities
Understanding of general business processes, business law, and finance
Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Travel: 10 15% in support of the sales group in the field. More travel initially as part of the on boarding process.
This is a full-time, permanent position with Longview Fibre and based in Longview, Washington. The company will assist with relocation expenses.
Targeted base salary range is $95k - $100k.
